Automatic synchronizing email

Do you ever wish you could keep email in your outlook inbox and your webmail at the same time? Or do you wish that you could synchronize your inbox folders with your laptop and your desktop? These are just a few of the powerful features that IMAP mail can offer. About 90% of people are only able to get their email in one place because the use POP mail. With a different type or email server you will discover the benefits that everyone is missing.

IMAP vs. POP3 email servers

Although Outlook can read your mail using a POP3 configuration, We would strongly encourage you to try using IMAP. The following explains the differences between IMAP and POP3 configurations:

How POP3 works: When you use POP3, all of your email messages are removed from your email server and downloaded to your computer whenever you check your email. If you would like to read your messages from another computer later on, they will not all be available, as they now only exist on the first computer. Alternatively, you can configure POP3 to never remove your messages from the email server. This setup will allow you to check mail on multiple computers, but will restrict you from permanently removing any messages on the server using Outlook. As you can see, both POP3 configurations have major drawbacks.

How IMAP works: When you use IMAP, all of your email messages and folders are kept on both your home computer and the email server. When you make a change in one place (i.e. delete a message, create a folder) both locations are updated. IMAP works very well if you plan on checking your email from multiple locations. IMAP also has security features that are not supported by POP3
